George Ledbetter, age 72, is riding his bicycle across America (again)

South on the Coastal HIghway

I opted to take a day off on August 3rd. These rides down the Southern California Coastal Highway are great! The scenery is stunning and it is enjoyable to see so many people out enjoying what the beach has to offer. And it has so much to offer. If you love the ocean as I do this stretch of beach has it all!

I am having a great time riding along the Coastal Highway. My main problem is trying to find a place to camp out. The State Parks along Southern California are few in number and high in demand. I prefer to camp in the car at a state park rather then staying in motels.

Oh well, it is what it is, and that means it requires a little more creativity to find a place to hang out in the Jeep. Oceanside California Harbor is one of the few places that offers parking for people in RV’s, trailers, and autos. They have established parking on a first come, first served basis.

A modest fee for overnight parking that is automated. Find a place to park, feed the meter the appropriate amount of money and enjoy parking between the Harbor and the Ocean. I took advantage of their facilities and parked overnight and rode the next morning.

Miles for day: 42

Total Miles: 1711

Good Samaritan of the Day: - Thank you!!

To some fisherman the of the fish caught size is not an issue! It must be the thril of the hunt!

A happy fisherman with a yellow-fin tuna caught off the shores of Oceanside this morning.

I watched the fellow in the yellow rain pants load herring on the boat for their fishing trip.
