Another wonderful day to ride with perfect weather, road conditions and attitude. Attitude plays an important role in riding on the roads. As in most things in life if your attitude is in good then the day seems to progress in the same manner.
Everything was going very well today. The wind was at my back and the weather was perfect and the scenery was outstanding, Add to that my “attitude” was good and I wanted to ride all day.
I stopped at a local bicycle shop to shoot the breeze and get some local input about the ride for the next few hours. It was a good thing that stopped at this bicycle shop because they gave me directions to take a surfer, biker, route off the highway that ran west of highway 1 for several miles.
One thing that is very hard to get used to is the constant roar of internal combustion engines that go by you hour after hour. My least favorite are motorcycles that have loud pipes that seem to explode right in my ear as they “roar” by. The next favorite is 18 wheelers that use air brakes going down a hill. And the third least is the occasional vehicle that has their car equipped like a 1950 hot rod with pipes that roar as well. Five to six hours of this is enough!
My ride today terminated about 5 miles North of Dana point. I was very lucky and found a camp site at a State park about 8 miles South of Dana Point.
The worst thing about riding along the Southern California Coast is there are few state parks along the way and a huge population of people trying to secure a camp site. One person told me that they
reserve their space 9 months in advance. It would have been good to know that a year ago. It typically takes me all afternoon to locate a place to spend the night.

Good Samaritan of the Day: Garrett - Thank you!!

This is the only hill on this ride that I could not ride up. The grade was too steep for me to pedal to the top. A humbling experience.

I loved seeing this ancient vessel!

Garrett is such a great guy, he is my Good Samaritan for the day. Garret went out of his way to insure me a spot in the State Park plus he phoned ahead the next day to make contact with another State

I have no idea what the type of tree this is but it sure has an artistic trunk.

The view from my front window! Known as a wind shield.
