Along the Pacific to Malibu

What a great ride today! I rode along the Pacific Ocean to Malibu watching the waves crash against the shore with surfers floating in the water like seals bouncing up and down with the wave action waiting for the next wave. It is really interesting watching these people challenge the waves.

I spent the night in Ventura at the Motel 6. The ride took me past Port Huemea and along side farm lands where grass, flowers, and other strawberry plants were growing.

Mario the front desk person at Motel 6 in Ventura was very helpful to me. Therefore he became my good Samaritan for the day. I was in need of an office shredder to take care of some documents that needed to be shredded. Mario brought the shredder to the waiting area and plugged it in allowing me to take care of my business, Thanks Mario!

The winds were blowing from the North helping propel my south along the coast. The wind shifted direction in the early afternoon which meant my ride became a bit more difficult because I had to ride directly into the wind.

You are aware that bicycle riders main complaint is they have to ride up hill against the wind. or so it seems! I haven’t encountered any fellow bikers heading South on the Coast Highway for the last few days.

Several bikers told me about an 80 year old man from Germany that started riding in Anchorage, Alaska and plans to ride to the tip of South America. I Hope to meet him along the way.

The weather was perfect for riding today. The temperature must have been in the mid 70’s with winds 10 to 15 miles an hour from the Northwest. The early morning was misty with fog that burned off in the early afternoon. A perfect day to ride along the coast. The bicycle bouncing up and down with ;e shoulders are WIDE which contributes to a great ride.
