On to Bandon

July 5th 2006

A very nice day for riding a bicycle. A few clouds in the sky, a slight breeze from the North and wide shoulders to ride on. Departed from Reedsport and rode 59 miles to Bandon, Oregon. The traffic on the road is not very heavy until nearing a city. It is interesting to discover that the shoulders on the road basically disappear when entering small coastal cities.

Marty found an outstanding camp site at Bullards Beach State Park to park the Original Wally. Marty rode North on 101 to meet me and ride back to the camp site. As we were entering the Park Marty spoke with two bicycle riders and invited them to join us for dinner.

Justin and Joanne were riding on their first long distance ride from Portland to Crescent City, California The four of us had a healthy meal prepared by Marty. We spent a few hours getting acquainted. We all enjoyed having the opportunity to learn about each other.

It was nice of Marty to invite them to join us for dinner, Justin said it was an improvement over their typical evening meal. We all had an enjoyable evening.
