Progress Memo   July 29, 2005 We had a long drive from the RV to the start point at the Junction of No. Hwy 287 and I 15 in Helena, MT where I started riding,. Shortly after merging with I 15 No. I had to negotiate with a bridge and a railroad track to cross over with zero shoulder. Not pleasant to be on the freeway at peak commuting time with these obstacles. There wasn’t any problem just some anxiety. First goal, today, is Wolf Creek, MT thirty-six miles North of Helena, MT. We have had very unreliable and intermittent cell service in MT. Sue and I agreed to meet there for lunch. She had found access to wireless-internet service and was able to do a few progress updates until the connection failed. As I was hoping on the bicycle to continue the ride Sue arrived. We then agreed to meet at Bowman’s Corner on No. Hwy 287. The grill and café at Bowman’s Corner was hosting the first annual Boar (Hog) Rodeo. I was invited to enter the competition. Decline was in order due to the thin tires on the bicycle. Before I declined I was told that bicycles were acceptable because there were no rules. The ride up the canyon to Wolf Creek is a great ride! Sue had predicted my time up the pass to Wolf Creek at two hours and twenty minutes. I was pleasantly surprised I thought it would take me about three hours. Real time was two hours and thirty-five minutes. She knows my riding pattern quite well.
