Started riding at Alpine, Jct 89 and 26. It was 23 miles to Hobach Jct. Riding along side the Snake River was unbelieveable. The early morning sunshine glistenig off of the rapids and highlighting a few canoes and inflatables running the rapids was a real time peak experience. Stopped to have a cup of "healthy" java at Lazy J Corral RV Park where we've been berthed the past two nights. Sue's Gano Cafe red mushroom based java is quite tasty. Road with a few thousand tourists through Jackson, WY then on up past the Tetons. We stopped to take pictures at the Tetons and met others doing the same and enjoyed sharing our experience with a couple from MS and a women from TN who were touched by our story and gave donations for ADA. We're very thankful for such generous tourists. I've rediscovered the pleasure of seeing the country as close to the elements as possible. That first occurred with running. Now, it is reoccurring with riding the bicycle. Each day reveals new and exciting views. It's a challenge to watch the road, oncoming traffic and take in the panoramic views. Sue had an exciting surprise when she looked in the rear view mirror (while talking on the cell phone with Cousin Carol) and saw four life size elk standing in the back of the pickup that had pulled in behind our car. At Carol's suggetion she grabbed the camera to take a photo. To her delight they were the most beautiful bronze sculpted statues one could imagine. The sculptor and his wife from Amity, OR were looking for a gallery. It was a real treat for Sue to chat with them. We'll be moving to Ennis, MT in a couple of days. I would love to tour every state via the bicycle. |
